RAKU Pottery For Schools

This educational, fun workshop provides links with the curriculum of Science, Geology, History & Art & Design.

Students are given a short, inspiring talk about the origins of clay and it’s uses. They will then be invited to choose a piece of pottery from our lovely range and will be shown how to decorate it using our existing glazes and watch it being fired. They will observe the process of the glaze becoming glass. Pottery is ready to take away the same day.

A teachers pack is provided for you to take with you consisting of a beautifully illustrated booklet “A Potted History” which covers the history and origins of clay and some of it’s uses in industry & the home. It is supported by a power paint learning resource DVD & will enable you to create extra lesson plans as a follow up to the workshop.

All the pottery is created here at Roundash by David & Jenny using local clay.

Workshop Cost
