Fabulous experience!
I had a fabulous time with my friend at Jenny and David's.They were the warmest, loveliest hosts and their enthusiasm and passion for their craft was infectious. I really enjoyed their company , listening to detailed explanations from David about the Raku process and some of the science behind it. They are truly delightful company, and so generous with their knowledge and time. A perfect day in a perfectly idyllic setting. Well worth it!
We were visiting from Florida. We were treated exceptionally well by the couple who own the business. It’s their private home and we were welcomed and treated with such kindness. We had arrived late and had some difficulty finding the place, but they assisted us over the phone with directions. They even offered to have us stay for dinner and they cooked a pizza for my wife, daughter and myself. Definitely a country farmhouse feel, it is eclectic and whimsical with lots of art and interesting conversation pieces. The ceramic painting area is on a large kitchen table next to a warm AGA stove keeping the room a nice, toasty warm. We had loads of fun firing our pieces and watching them transform into the spectacular array of bright, colorful textures the way Raku so uniquely achieves. The husband does the firing and he is a real pro and got us fantastic results. We got a full tour of the grounds to include a garden with vegetables and my daughter even spent a little time visiting with and hold their pet rabbit. The owners are lovers of the arts - music, painting, you name it and it is reflected in their home and inspired personalities. They were engaging and a joy to converse with. Many things in common. Pleasant and down to earth people, for sure. You will remember your experience at bright fire for a long time to come. What a special place. Thanks to the owners for opening their home to us and giving us a unique experience that allowed us to take home some pottery we are proud of, and memories that’ll last a lifetime. Brilliant
We had a wonderful afternoon. We painted our pots and watched the fascinating and dramatic process of creating the raku effect. We cuddled the baby rabbits, played with Jake the dog and stroked the dear shetland ponies. We enjoyed drinks and biscuits in the beautiful farmhouse. A great experience for us all (ages 3 - 69). Lovely Experience
We stopped off here en route home from a holiday in Cornwall. What a lovely way to round off the holiday! Jenny and David are the friendliest, most welcoming people and nothing was too much trouble. We were welcomed into their beautiful farmhouse for tea and biscuits before we started the pot painting, we had cuddles with their beautiful baby bunny rabbits and were introduced to the animal members of the farm. David and Jenny were very knowledgable about their trade and really made us feel at home. We were given the opportunity to watch our pots from the first step in the kiln to the final firing and cooling down, it was a fascinating process and I got lots of lovely pictures to remember the day by. I would 110% recommend Brightfire Pottery, it was the best experience of our holiday, all thanks to David and Jenny and their friendly approach to their business. What an absolute treat!!
Jenny and Dave are first class hosts. We received first class tuition and walked away with items we had made which to be honest, was worth more than the admission price! We were made to feel exceptionally welcome and were given a tour of the whole place. Thoroughly recommended for a day which makes you feel genuinely involved. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for something that is a cut above the mill of daytime attractions - this one is streets ahead!! Cant fault it and we will certainly go back to make the Xmas presents this year!!!
